Eventuri C8 Z06 Coupe Carbon Intake EVE-Z06VT-CF-INT
PERFORMANCE
DYNO TESTING
Our C8 Z06 Intake was developed in conjunction with Corvette specialists, Paragon Performance in Iowa who carried out performance testing and data logging for each prototype that we produced. All dyno tests were carried out in their controlled dyno cell facility where ambient temperatures were kept constant and fuel trim values logged. All other variables were minimised for a reliable and repeatable result. A fully stock Z06 was tested with engine temperatures at a stabilized value and then the car was left on the dyno while the intake was installed. After installation the car was allowed to reach the same temperatures and then run on the dyno several times for a consistent result.
As can be seen, there is a significant gain throughout the RPM range, and in particular in the mid-range between 3500-5500rpm where the intake released gains of up to 42whp and 44ft-lb or torque. This is immediately apparent on the road where the Z06 feels much more responsive and the “flat spot” which owners notice on the stock car completely disappears. Importantly it is the total gain across the entire RPM range which our intake releases that transforms the driving experience of the Z06.
DEVELOPMENT
The final result as seen above was the culmination of an iterative process where prototypes were tested by Paragon Performance and then the design was tweaked to improve on the performance gains. The graphs below show the results of each prototype leading up to the final version.
CFD ANALYSIS
CFD flow analysis was conducted on the intake to optimise the shape for smooth flow and therefore reduced drag. The simulation below shows a sweeping cut plot of velocities through the intake. The streamlines demonstrate how the intake takes turbulent flow upstream of the filters and shapes the flow to be smooth and linear as it collects and moves through the MAF tube sections to the throttle body. The velocity increases as it moves through the MAF tube yet remains laminar and uniform throughout the tube to the engine. This analysis is showing the results for one of the prototypes, which was then improved for the final version.
PRODUCT DETAILS
Part Numbers:
- EVE-Z06VT-CF-INT : C8 Z06 Corvette Coupe Intake System
- EVE-Z06HTC-CF-INT : C8 Z06 Corvette Hard Top Convertible Intake System
The Eventuri C8 Z06 Corvette intake system consists of a number of components engineered to perform a specific purpose and fabricated to the highest of standards. We use 100% pre-preg carbon fiber with no fibreglass which means we can achieve a smooth internal surface to maintain smoother airflow. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:
Each intake system consists of:
- Carbon Fiber Double Venturi Filter Housing
- Bespoke High Flow Dry Cone Filters
- Carbon Fiber Inlet Ducts
- Clear Polycarbonate Trunk Panel
- Silicon Couplers
- Laser Cut Stainless Steel Brackets and Heat Shields
- Custom Inlet Flanges
- Custom Flexible Hoses
PATENTED FILTER HOUSING
The Z06 Filter Housing is designed with 2 of our patented Venturi pods which merge to create a large volume and at the same time incorporates 2 MAF tubes which direct flow to each bank of the plenum. It is our most complex housing design to date and the culmination of several months of intensive prototyping, testing and iteration. Internally it comprises of 2 bespoke high flow filters and aluminium cowls, which help direct flow onto the filters. The carbon housing shrouds the reverse mounted filters and smoothly shapes the airflow towards the MAF tubes where volume is gradually reduced. This smooth reduction in cross sectional area invokes the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates whilst maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack – below is a diagram to show the comparison between our patented design and a regular intake system. Further details can be read in the Technology page.
BESPOKE CONE FILTER
The filter we chose for the Z06 system allows for a balance between filtration area and overall filter housing volume. Our initial prototypes used a larger filter but these extended too far into the housing and disrupted the flow towards each MAF tube section. By using a shorter cone we were able to optimise the shape of the housing for better flow towards the MAF tubes while maintaining more than sufficient filtration area for the CFM demands. The filter medium is ISO tested to ensure that filtration is in line with OEM standards and is also dry. The filter is constructed with our signature flow cones to aid in the Venturi housing principle.
CARBON DUCTS
The ducts channels ambient air from the side vents to the filter housing. In order to ensure a good seal against engine bay heat – they are secured to the filter housing at 3 points and use a neoprene gasket for an airtight seal . The ducts were designed to have the maximum internal volume possible within the given geometry of the engine bay. This ensures that the filter housing is able to draw with minimum restriction.
CLEAR TRUNK PANEL
Designing an intake to have a large volume with smooth airflow to the engine was not possible with the limited space which was in part due to the stock trunk panel so we redesigned it to accommodate our intake. In doing so we took the opportunity to showcase the carbon fiber and so made the panel from clear polycarbonate. This allows for a window to see the intake when the trunk is opened – an industry first for this platform.
BRACKET WORK
We have designed a framework to allow the OEM wiring looms to be secured in place and kept out of view. The bracket work is laser cut from Stainless Steel and Aluminum.
INLET FLANGES
Our custom inlet flanges and flexible hoses connect the intake to the stock cold air feeds on each side. This ensures that engine bay heat is kept out of the intake system.
The complete system comes together to provide an intake which genuinely transforms the driving experience of the C8 Z06……..
